Agree. But don’t ever underestimate the power of specialists doing everything to protect their little domain. IMO, the whole autonomous vehicle hype is an astonishing example of this. There must be tens of thousands out there, all of them looking for the Holy Grail of Level 5 vehicle autonomy, burning through billions of investment capital. There is a guy here on Medium, an AI insider he calls himself, by the name of Lance Eliot, who made it an habit to tediously go through every aspect of vehicle autonomy, but who has no grasp of the ‘bigger picture’. All those tech companies made the quest for the Holy Grail in self-driving into an exercise of putting a lot of specialists to work, hoping that the total sum of their combined expertise will bring the desired end result.
