... But I agree with you to a large extent. Hard to reverse developments though. Consumers are addicted to cars that keep growing bigger and heavier. An outsider to the car industry (like Tesla once was) should step to the plate, and bring a much lighter therefore safer and more eco-friendly (a lighter battery pack being one of the more obvious benefits) automotive alternative. At least for the people who do care. The principle is simple: as the average car occupancy is 1.2 person, why drag all that car metal (weighing up to 25–40 times more than the driver weighs) with you when you go from A to B?
