Cars are a bit like the opioids the industry made the people dependent on. It is extremely difficult to reintroduce PT with an appealing enough service in places where PT has been phased out, like Detroit and Greater Los Angeles. To make way for bicycle lanes is already a lot more realistic and cheaper. Then again, people will always be using cars. Best bet is to lure them into using a lot smaller cars. This would also bring affordable electrification closer, as they would need a lot less of those costly batteries. Check out new-isetta.com if you have the time. Below: people rather go to a foodbank than give up their gas-guzzling truck or SUV.
