Changing conditions and new technology (driverless) challenge us to REFORMAT out favorite mode of transport, the car — this angle is completely missing in Silicon Valley’s frame of mind. Which is weird, since that particular region took care of everyone swapping their brick-like mobile phone for a sleek, black tile that is communicative, versatile and handy (smartphone). And particularly weird since SV tried to do things differently than the auto industry, and since Uber found out that those big SUVs are not very conducive for autonomous operation.
