FOMO explains why people (will) buy shares in Uber and Lyft. The pillars Uber heralded over the past years: ride-hailing, driverless and flying taxis do not pan out the way Uber people want them to develop. More competition, more independent contractor vs employee struggles in different countries, licenses being revoked under the pressure of taxi companies, accidents with driverless cars made Uber scale down the experiments, no breakthrough in the flying taxi field… The prospects aren’t good for the foreseeable future.
