I think that most people in the West, Christian or not, feel that islam and democracy don’t go together well. Name one country, predominantly islam, that has the same civil liberties, tolerance towards minorities, ‘mechanisms’ for holding rulers accountable, etc. as the ones that people in the West have grown accustomed to. This affects free thought, science, culture, literature, and more.
