It seems like we're all in in it for the very-very long run. Zelensky doesn't want to give up on the Donbas region, even the Crimea. Putin doesn't want to lose face, and will at least insist on keeping the Crimean peninsula and the Donbas region. If there is going to be a settlement, the West will insist on using the hundreds of billions of seized Russian assets to rebuild destroyed Ukraine cities. Once the EU will go through the € multi-billion costing process of cutting itself loose from Russian gas and oil, there is no turning back. Russia may be able to sell oil and gas to China and India, but you can bet the West will slap on tariffs on all Chinese and India goods produced with the use of Russian fossil energy.
