No Standardization in sight. There’s a winner- beats-all mindset, in which each automaker is striving on its own to develop an AV. One of the biggest hurdles in devising self-driving cars involves figuring out unusual or oddball driving circumstances and the ability to prepare the AI drive systems to cope with those situations. That requires all developers to open up and share their proprietary secrets. Fat chance that will happen any time soon. I call this the #5 hurdle AV development is facing. So far, around the astonishing sum of $100 billion has been spent according to McKinsey. IMO, when technology is to take over control, the car basically becomes the ‘app’, the application. Why not reformat the car first to optimize the use of autonomous vehicle tech? Something that Aurora, that took over UBER’s self-driving division, also hinted at in a recent tweet. The truly great thing is that we get the chance to tackle that other major challenge: greening car travel. Cheers, Ralph More info: new-iSetta.com
