Semantics. Firstly, define objectively (intersubjectively) what may be considered "real" as opposed to "simulated". Difficult, since we already experience great difficulty in establishing facts, fake and manipulated. Is there a hard partitioning between the two? As far as there has ever been one (partitioning), is it waning or blurring? Are "real" and "simulated" not labels for saying that there is some grand scheme (overlaying grid) meant to encompass, steer everything and everyone. Is there so much as fate and the free will of the individual? Is what’s taking place, meant to be taken place? Are there parallel universes with other grids and outcomes? Will AI, already steering a lot of our lives because of the use of algorithms, form the building blocks of a “synthetic future” (as opposed to a future still determined by humans)?
