Since the car shed its ICE based engineering and hardware, it became basically like a big appliance on wheels. Elon Musk himself often referred to his Teslas as appliances, for which ICE car rules don’t apply. So, what should be next? IMO, the car as its own solution to the many issues we are still facing in going from A to B. In short, the car as a smart device. The car will have to shape up to assume its new role though: lose weight and girth, reformat. The same process the phone went through when it became smarter. The established car brands may not be the most suitable to make this next transition, like the phone companies weren’t in the personal communication sector.
