Size matters, like it usually does. Car makers and AV developers completely ignore the displacement aspect. IMO, the smaller and sleeker the AV, the more margin to maneuver, the better the AV’s vicinity can be scanned and imaged by both the onboard technology as well as the person behind the steering wheel. Below a so-called sleek-footprint vehicle compared to the Volvo XC90 that Uber has been experimenting with. Uber’s self-driving division turned out to be a billion dollar writeoff.
