Objective more distant than it appears in your mirror… (or spreadsheet). The more we know about what’s needed to fill in the blanks to realize self-driving, the more distant the ultimate goal looks. IMO, a lot of wishful thinking and engineering has always been part of the ‘game’ of attracting billion-dollar funding and simultaneously pitching authorities and the media. Fortune has warned that this may all collapse if things take much more time and effort to develop. Uber already dialed down its hopes regarding driverless ride-hailing.
