The thing is that car use ruins urban city life. Cars take up too much space when moving and when not moving (parked). Here are some pictures that provide food for thought. 1st: downtown Detroit (“Motor City”) has become a concrete wasteland, devoid of any human activity and leasure. 2nd: footprint when displacing ourselves. 99% of the cars are wider than the usually single occupant (the driver) is tall. 3rd: people we tend to stack in apartment buildings, cars we allow the luxury of having the space to roam freely in the street. 4th: Dutch ‘leefstraat’ — cars banned, adults can socialize, kids can play. 5th: the whole truck and SUV trend is killing for road safety.
