Well, they are (stupid). For all sorts of reasons. I liked superhero comic books when I was a teenager. Still sort of respect them, for being a time capsule. However, when you like them as a grownup in the form of a movie, worse: when it has become a broader, cultural phenomenon, then it's a sign that you haven't matured. I strongly dislike the predictable narratives, the 2D characters, the simplifications, the CGI over substance. It's like walking into an American supermarket. Lots of same food products, only packaged differently. I agree with what Ridley Scott and Scorsese have said about them. They are mind-numbing for people already suffering from low-concentration syndrome.
