When I finally watched Kubrick's movie, it struck me what a remarkably layered story was portrayed, but didn't give it much thought, afterwards. Now that we all know more about how destructive pedophiles are, I doubt writers would put it high on their list and that a remake of Nabokov's story would ever be considered.
