Yup, timing is everything. Interesting that you mention Tesla. In retrospect, Musk’s success comes across as if he knew something other car brands have been ignoring: people’s willingness, even eagerness to welcome new things, new approaches. Interesting too your assessment of the SRM. I take it that if anyone would embrace its potential, it will be Musk. IMO, the real ‘next step’ in zero-emission personal mobility is to have the transport mode (passenger car) and the inherently low energy-density of battery drive better match each other. If you think of it, Teslas have never been more than pretty conventional looking cars (hood section-passenger compartment-boot) in which the ICE has been swapped for electric drive.
